Full Body Yes!
5 (ish) beautiful things that made my heart go pitter-patter this week.
Welcome to Full Body Yes!, your weekly guide to beautiful things that are built with intention and purpose (not bullshit) by Isabel Doonan.
I am very conscious of the fact that there are thousands of poorly, and exquisitely curated roundups on this platform. From influencers sharing their top outfits for the week, their dinner table essentials, to the nobody trying to make a quick buck (“trust me Karen, no one wants to spend $49 on your “5-9 after your 9-5” ebook”)! No disrespect, but I do not seek to emulate these people.
You might be wondering, so why are you adding another roundup to the mix?
A few reasons.
One, blind consumerism is rampant. I want to highlight the things made by beautifully intentional humans who aren’t just producing, but contributing to society in a meaningful way (whether that’s craftsmanship, responsibility, impact, and/or just great bang-for-your-buck). We need ways to cut through the bullshit and find what’s beautiful and somewhat responsible (and ideally affordable??).
Two, consumerism is political, and psychological. Why do we crave beautiful things in chaotic times? Why does a perfectly designed object make us feel safe? These types of questions are the ones I intend to explore. Why do we consume the way we do?
Three, fun! As I’ve begun writing again, I decided it was important I have some fun with what’s filling these pages (or feed for that matter). I took some time over the past two weeks to really think about what I love most — turns out, it’s beautifulllll things.
I yearn to move closer to things I love and desire — the things that feel like a full body yes, no hesitation.
Without further ado, 5 beautiful things.
Savette’s SLIM SYMMETRY POCHETTE
I would be lying if I said I hadn’t added Savette’s SLIM SYMMETRY POCHETTE to my cart numerous times over the past two months (totally ironically because no way can I afford it).
This bag isn’t just beautiful. It’s craft - this is an heirloom piece, a worthy push present (lol) and something built with sustainability in-mind. I’d rate Savette as a 7/10 on my conscious consumer scale based on their certified materials, ethical production, and longevity.
HOWEVER, affordability is -10/10. So here’s a fun alternative from JW Pei
Instant Angel Lipid-Rich Firming Moisturizer
Nothing is more beautiful to me than when my face is hydrated and un-irritated. I have all of Dieux’s skincare products to thank. In all seriousness, Dieux is a 10/10 in ethics, sustainability, responsibility, political engagement, and frankly, an A+ everything they do. When I think about sustainable consumerism, Charlotte Parlor and her team at Dieux are at the top of my list. Plus, they make an incredible product.
Look out for a deep dive on Dieux at some point. They are dieuxing it right.
DUO VINEGAR & OIL FLASK
I became obsessed with this vinegar and oil flask set from PORTA, a brick and mortar shop in Brooklyn. These are manufactured in Egypt by a brand whose purpose is expand opportunity for Egyptian women through education and the cultivation of skilled work. At its core is a free training and production center dedicated to embroidery and traditional Egyptian crafts, where participants develop both technical mastery and economic agency. Once trained, the women transition to working from home—an intentional model that sustains income while opening space for new cohorts to enter. In this way, knowledge is continuously passed on, and access steadily widened. Through its work, the brand not only preserves the richness of Egyptian craft traditions, but reframes them as living practices—rooted in heritage, shaped by hand, and carried forward through a shared sense of possibility.
10/10 a sustainable buy perfect for your (my) Mom this Mother’s day.
Also, shop small where you can!!!
A more affordable option: Catania Glass Olive Oil Cruet from Anthropologie.
SLOWTIDE TOWELS
I am in loveeeee with Slowtide’s towels. They feel like a warm hug every time I get out of the shower and they boast unique designs and patterns that really give our tiny NYC bathroom some personality. Plus, Slowtide is an incredible brand that leads with impact (1% of every purchase goes to a nonprofit of your choice — no roundups, just a company giving back on your behalf.
Read more about the impact they make as a brand!
ELECTRIC PICKS TENNIS NECKLACE
If you’re in it for sparkly things but not the sparkly price tags, I urge you to check out Electric Picks. Okay, I’ll admit, they probably aren’t the most ethically-sourced items, but this company does dupes amazingly. I own the above tennis necklace and am constantly getting compliments on it. People cannot believe it's a fake. The BEST feeling.
Thanks for reading! If you enjoyed this letter, forward it to a conscious shopper in your life.
